History

History at Epping Upland is taught to help pupils develop their interest in the past, sparking their curiosity and motivation to learn.  Chronological understanding and inquiry skills are promoted throughout every topic covered in our History curriculum, with the assurance that children have the opportunity to strengthen and build upon their knowledge as they progress through the school. We encourage children to step into their lessons with an open-mind, unafraid to challenge or question ideologies of the past and discuss how they may have an impact on our lives today.

The National Curriculum for History aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • know and understand the history of Great Britain from the earliest times to the present day;
  • know and understand significant aspects of the history of the wider world;
  • understand historical concepts such as continuity and change.
