Our Literacy & Curriculum Framework

Early Reading & Phonics

We build firm foundations in reading and spelling through Supersonic Phonic Friends. This systematic phononics program uses high-energy active learning, memorable rhymes, and friendly visual characters (like Tricky Tess and Choose to Use Suze) to ensure children master phonemes, graphemes, and spelling patterns rapidly and with joy.

Comprehension & Reading Skills

To deepen comprehension and critical thinking, we use Read Write Inc. VIPERS (Vocabulary, Infer, Predict, Explain, Retrieve, Sequence/Summarise). This consistent framework equips pupils with key reading strategies, enabling them to dissect, analyse, and appreciate a rich variety of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry texts during whole-class reading sessions.

Writing & Communication

Our writing progression is built on Jonathan Bond’s Writing Curriculum. This comprehensive, high-quality framework ensures clear progression in grammar, punctuation, and text structure across year groups. By studying rich core texts and modelled genres, pupils learn to plan, compose, and edit ambitious writing tailored for diverse audiences and purposes.

Handwriting & Spelling

To cultivate proud, fluent writers, we teach presentation and cursive letter formation through Penpals for Handwriting. This structured progression builds fine motor skills and letter-joining fluency from early years through Key Stage 2.
