Geography

At Epping Upland, we inspire pupils to approach their learning about the world around them with excitement and curiosity.

Through the teaching of Geography we teach children about human and physical characteristics and how these change over time. We also seek to promote awareness and understanding of the world’s ethnic, cultural and economic diversity. An understanding of Geography helps to foster an enquiring mind, where children can ask questions, and be given opportunities to explore the world to around them.

The National Curriculum for Geography aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop knowledge of the location of globally significant places, including defining their physical and human characteristics;
  • understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world;
  • communicate geographical information in a variety of ways, including through maps and writing at length.
